National Director

Act Six was developed by Tim Herron, a National Board Certified teacher who spent six years advocating for his students at Tacoma's Lincoln High School as they made the journey to college. Act Six grew out of this work and Tim's passion to see students from urban areas thrive in college, help colleges experience more of the rich cultural and economic diversity that is a trademark of urban life, and invest in new generations of transformational leadership for the city.

Deeply committed to the Hilltop Tacoma neighborhood where they have lived since 1994, Tim and his wife Anna worked with NLF and their church to develop a neighborhood learning center behind their home that provides innovative no-cost educational support for neighborhood kids.

After ten years of teaching mathematics in Tacoma Public Schools, Tim currently works full time at NLF as Act Six National Director.
